Lithuania Work Permit: Real or Fake?

A Lithuanian job for a non-EU worker is a temporary residence permit based on employment, applied for with the Migration Department, with a real employer and a written contract. From 1 November 2026 the way those applications are accepted changed. A permit photo from an agent is not that process. Have the employer confirmed before you pay.

Who this is for

The offer is a factory, warehouse, driving or construction job in Lithuania, sold to a family in India as a small European country with fast papers. The agent has a PDF and a deadline. You want the official order of the process, including the change that took effect on 1 November 2026, before you transfer money.

How Lithuania hiring works

The authority is the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior. Work-based stay is a temporary residence permit, not a souvenir an agent posts from Vilnius. The department's own material for foreign workers says you can obtain the permit when you meet the conditions, you have submitted the documents, a Lithuanian employer agrees to hire you, and you accept the job, the duties and the pay (Migration Department, rights of foreign workers).

The employer has duties before you start. Official guidance says the employer commits to hire you on an employment contract for at least six months, on a full-time basis, and that you need relevant qualifications, or at least a year of relevant experience in the last three years, or a salary that meets the higher threshold the law sets for people who have neither (employer obligations). Do not memorise a rupee conversion of that salary from a chat. Read the current figure on the Migration Department and Sodra pages, because minimums move.

The contract itself has rules that scammers skip. It is in writing, in two copies. It is in Lithuanian and in a language you understand. It states the work you will do, the workplace and the pay, and when you are paid. The employer explains it and answers questions. You do not sign a blank page. The employer reports the employment to Sodra, the social insurance fund, before you start, so the job is on the books (same worker-rights note).

Applications go through MIGRIS, the migration information system. The worker submits the application and the employer is part of the mediation. On 1 November 2026 amendments to the Law on the Legal Status of Aliens changed how applications for a temporary residence permit on work and study grounds are accepted. The Migration Department announced that change (notice). If an agent describes a filing method from last year as if nothing moved, ask them to show you the department's current notice. This page will not invent the new clicks. The notice is the source.

A labour-market step still sits underneath many hires. The employer registers the vacancy with the Employment Service, and the Migration Department expects the labour-market decision before it issues the residence permit (European Commission overview). That overview is a summary. The Lithuanian pages above are the ones to trust if they disagree on a detail.

Lithuania is a Schengen country. A Lithuanian permit is not a permit to work in Poland or Germany. An agent who sells "Lithuania first, then anywhere" is selling a second immigration system they do not control.

You can look up whether a Lithuanian company exists in the public registers. Then contact the company yourself. A register hit is not a job offer.

Red flags people already report

  • A residence card shown to you in India before any MIGRIS application you know is yours.
  • The agent cannot name the employer in a way you can check, or the employer will not answer.
  • The contract is only in a language you do not read, or you are asked to sign a blank sheet.
  • The job is shorter than six months, or it is not full time, but the agent still calls it the standard permit.
  • WhatsApp only, Gmail sender, no interview.
  • Pay far above the work, or pay that is "cash on arrival".
  • Visit visa now, permit later.
  • A guaranteed permit, or a Europe-wide permit.
  • Pay today, before you have read the 1 November 2026 notice.
  • The agent's verification website.
  • No eMigrate registration where the Emigration Act applies.
  • Your passport is held by the agent.

Why a photo or a software scan is not enough

The November 2026 change is a good example. A scanner does not read Lithuanian legal notices, and it cannot ask a factory in Kaunas if the contract is real. The Migration Department can. The employer can. A PDF cannot.

What Testiy does

You send the documents. A human expert confirms the case with the employer. You receive a certified report and a public verify link. Testiy does not file MIGRIS applications and does not book appointments. Packs start at ₹1,600 including GST. See pricing. Desk hours are 10:00–22:00 IST.

Sample report is a written outcome and a link your family can open.

Cases people report

The pattern families describe is a Baltic job sold as quicker than Poland, with a card image and a demand for the balance. Lithuania's own rules want a named employer, a written contract and an application to the Migration Department. When those are missing, the speed was only the speed of the payment request.

If you already paid

Keep the chats and receipts. Report the case at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930. Tell the Protector of Emigrants and the police.

FAQ

Is my Lithuania work permit real or fake?

If the employer will not confirm a written job of at least six months, and you have no application with the Migration Department, the photo is not a permit.

Can I check a Lithuania work permit online myself?

Read migracija.lt, including the notice of 1 November 2026, and ask the employer to confirm the job. There is no public passport lookup for an agent to sell.

My agent says the embassy verified it. Is that enough?

No. The Migration Department decides the residence permit. An embassy stamp story does not replace the employer.

Is it normal to pay the agent before getting the permit?

The official path is an application and a contract, not a large cash advance. Check the MEA ceiling for registered agents on mea.gov.in/ras.

How long does a Testiy verification take?

See pricing. Many cases are decided the same day while the desk is open, 10:00–22:00 IST.

What do I get from Testiy?

A certified report and a public verify link.

Can I speak with Testiy in Malayalam or Hindi?

Yes. Our experts can speak with you in Malayalam, Hindi and English.

What if the offer turns out to be fake?

Stop paying. Report it on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
