An agent is offering factory, warehouse or hospitality work in Czechia and calling the paper an employee card, a work permit or a visa that is "already approved". You are in India. You have not sat in front of a Czech official. Someone wants an advance. This page is how the public Czech route actually starts, and why a photo is not an employee card.
How Czech hiring works
The employee card is the long-term residence permit Czechia uses so a third-country national can live in the country and work. The Ministry of the Interior describes it as the main employment route, including a dual mode that covers both stay and work and a non-dual mode used when a separate employment permission is required (Ministry of the Interior). It is not a letter an agent prints in Kochi.
The job usually has to be a vacancy the employer has reported to the Labour Office, unless the law says that step is not required for that role. The Labour Office's permission, where it is needed, is a step the employer deals with. It is not a fee you pay an Indian consultancy (Interior Ministry, employment permission).
If you are outside Czechia, you do not walk into a Ministry office in Brno. Applications from abroad are taken at a Czech embassy, and the ministry publishes that embassies work with quotas and with government programmes. Not every embassy accepts every category on every day. The page to read is the ministry's own employee-card section, including the note on quotas at embassies (mv.gov.cz). An agent who says "quota is not a problem, pay and we will file in Prague tomorrow" is skipping the part the ministry controls.
Inside the country, a person who already holds the right kind of long-term stay can apply in person at a Ministry of the Interior office. The official guidance says an employer may apply for you only in specific government programmes and only with a power of attorney, and only if that programme allows it (ipc.gov.cz). A random agent in India is not that programme.
The card is tied to the employer and the job the decision names. Changing employer or the job is a further application, not a verbal promise. The ministry's page on change of employer is the authority for that, not a WhatsApp voice note. When the decision is positive and you are abroad, the next step is the visa that lets you travel to collect the residence permit. That visa is part of the official chain. It is not a tourist visa you convert later.
You can ask the employer for the company identification number and look the company up in the Czech public registers yourself. A company that exists is not a company that hired you. Call or email an address you found, and ask whether the offer is real.

Red flags people already report
- A photo of an "employee card" while you are still in India and have never applied at an embassy.
- Payment before the employer will confirm the job and the vacancy.
- The offer only on WhatsApp, from a Gmail address, with no interview.
- Pay for unskilled work that is far above Czech adverts for that job.
- "Visit visa now, employee card after you arrive."
- A guaranteed card, or a card that lets you work in Germany or Poland as well.
- Pressure to pay today because a quota closes tonight.
- The agent's own website that "verifies" Czech documents.
- No registration to show on eMigrate where the Emigration Act applies.
- A promise that the agent will file at the ministry without you, outside any official programme.
- The embassy that covers you is not actually accepting applications, and the agent says that does not matter.
- Your passport is collected before any appointment you made yourself.
Why a photo or a software scan is not enough
Embassy quotas and labour-office vacancies are facts about a procedure. A program that reads a PDF does not know whether the embassy is accepting applications, and it does not know whether the factory in Plzeň hired you. The ministry's site is public. The employer's confirmation is the part you still need.

Is my Czech employee card real or fake?
If you have not applied through a Czech embassy and the employer will not confirm the job, you do not have an employee card. You have a file in a chat.
Can I check a Czech work permit online myself?
Read the Ministry of the Interior's employee-card pages and ask the employer which embassy application, if any, was accepted. There is no public passport-number lookup an agent can sell you.
My agent says the embassy verified it. Is that enough?
The embassy accepts applications when quotas and rules allow. It does not verify a PDF the agent made. Ask which embassy, and read that mission's own notice.
Is it normal to pay the agent before getting the permit?
The official process is an application and a decision, not a cash package. Check the MEA recruiting-agent ceiling on mea.gov.in/ras and do not pay a large advance before the employer speaks to you.
